In Lozovik, above Jagodina, in a rolling area where Šumadija looks over Pomoravlje, it became clear where to take root, guided by the traces of vineyard land. Located on beautiful slopes that provide ideal sun exposure, Temet Winery is shaped by strong environmental influences, with a desire to find harmony in work and life under the same roof.
In honor of nature, earth, and sun, Temet Winery stands tall on a hill, surrounded by vineyards. Its creation is an exciting journey filled with discoveries, challenges, and dreams.
Philosophy
We believe in the power of nature. Our organic cultivation method forces the plants to compete for water and minerals from deep in the roots.
We believe in the soil and climate of Lozovik, in the Jagodina wine region. Wind, rain, and sun have milled, washed, and warmed it for thousands of years. The result is mineral-rich soil, contributing to the production of authentic wines.
We believe in growing grapes using natural methods. We respect the organic capacity of the grapevines, which is why we have a low yield.
Vineyards
“Modern Traditionalism”
Temet Winery cultivates 37.8 hectares of vineyards, divided into 19 plots spread across two locations, at an altitude of 250-330 meters. The topography of “Temet Hill” offers three types of different soil, which has allowed for the planting of indigenous varieties such as Prokupac, Morava, and Tamjanika, as well as selected exposures for Pinot Gris, Chardonnay, Merlot, Syrah, Cabernet Franc, and Cabernet Sauvignon.
The vines are carefully selected, with different clones that together offer the best characteristics of each variety. The cultivation method allows the grapevines to compete with one another in controlled conditions and absorb nutrients and moisture from the soil. This competitiveness makes the vines strong enough to produce high-quality grapes. The grapes come exclusively from our vineyard. We strive to maintain a strong connection with the vines through all our knowledge and respect for the environment. We remain traditionalists despite the growing development of wine cultivation technology.
All vineyard work (pruning, tying, training vines, harvesting grapes) is done manually, resulting in increased wine quality. Starting in 2018, we decided that our vines would be cultivated only using natural methods, without chemical fertilizers or pesticides, in other words, organically.
We believe that modern knowledge can be applied to traditional wine production methods. We do not know compromise and nurture true values.
Winery
Modern or Traditional?
Does a new winery have to be traditional to gain respect? No, a new winery must be new! It must create the spirit of the coming time. The foundations are laid in tradition, and tradition is already rooted in the land.
Temet wine tells the story of our region and a story of love, passion, and emotion that has strongly connected us. This passionate story flows in every glass of our wine, creating experiences and journeys with every sip.
The annual production is divided into several lines of wine differing in variety, complexity, and vineyard positions from which they originate.
The winery also has its secrets. The challenge of discovery, the courage to venture into the unknown, to endure along the way, because one must step out of the shadows and show character. Because creating something new means to exist.
If I were born as wine, I would love to have grown up in Lozovik, completed my education in the Jagodina wine region, and found love at your table.
