At the end of the last century, the Šurlan family from the Banat village of Novi Kozarci began their fruit-growing activities. They planted their first hectare with apple trees, not foreseeing how their orchards would expand and multiply over the following decades. Initially, they cultivated fruit for their own use and the local market, timely perfecting the technology for preparing and producing high-quality homemade rakija. In 2003, they received a decision from the Ministry of Agriculture of Serbia that allowed them to professionalize their family business. They began producing rakija in significantly larger uantities and bottling it in original and recognizable containers. By 2011, this small family enterprise evolved into a serious, large, and modern distillery, where fruit rakija is produced as one of the best that Serbia has to offer. The Šurlan brand today evokes the refined taste and true strength of homemade rakija.
