The unique winery estate Montalbera is rooted in Monferrato and Langhe areas and owned by the Morando family for 3 generations.
Since 2003 Montalbera estate has been engaged in the cultivation of the rare and precious indigenous grape variety Ruchè, becoming its leading and iconic winery in the national and international markets. Today Montalbera, situated between the Monferrato and Langhe areas, is the leading winery with 115 ha In Monferrato area and 15 ha in Langhe areas of the property vineyards working according to the SQNPI sustainability certification. Nowadays the winery is run by the third generation Franco Morando and the total production counts around 650000 bottles of the highest quality wines. The wine portfolio comprises the Ruche di Castagnole Monferrato DOCG as the 60% of its wine range, the Nizza DOCG, the Barbera d’Asti superiore DOC, the Grignolino d’Asti DOC, the Barolo DOCG, the Barbaresco DOCG, the Piemonte DOC Viognier, as well as the sparkling wines both in charmat and classical method wines, the sweet wines of Passito of Ruche and Moscato d’Asti DOCG. The winery has created the high positioning in the Italian market, especially in the ontrade segment, as the well recognized and best selling brand. For the last years the new generation has been engaged in the global expansion with the USA, Canada, Germany, Switzerland as the top markets with both off trade and on trade channels.
