Matalj Winery, located in the far east of Serbia, is a testament to the rich heritage of the Negotin wine region. The unique terroir, specific microclimate, sandy and sedimentary soil between the watersheds of the Danube and Timok rivers make this area ideal for growing vines.
The vineyards are covered with stone, alluvial deposits, and fossils of shells from the ancient Pannonian Sea. They span an area of about 25 hectares, distributed across three different locations about 60 kilometers apart.
In addition to indigenous varieties such as Prokupac, Bagrine, Začinka, and Black Tamjanika, which testify to the tradition of winemaking in our region, we also cultivate top international varieties such as Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc.
Kremen Kamen wine is our most famous creation, a wine that tells the story of our unique terroir and the history of Negotin Krajina.
