Gil Family Estates story began in 1916 when Juan Gil Jiménez, a stonemason by trade, ventured into vineyard farming to sell bulk wine during World War I, establishing their first winery. Over a century later, driven by the Gil family’s passion, the company has invested in native vineyards and lesser-known wine regions, now owning 2,100 hectares of vineyards across Spain. The turning point came in 1977 with the passing of patriarch Juan Gil González. His widow, Rosario Vera, ensured the continuity of the business by emphasizing education and family unity among their nine children. In the 21st century, the centennial wine group, now led by the fourth generation with Miguel and Ángel Gil Vera at the helm, comprises 11 wineries across 10 Designations of Origin, maintaining its roots in Jumilla. The company is guided by winemakers who have been trained within the company since its inception, alongside internationally renowned technicians. Gil Family Estates is dedicated to land sustainability and the future of viticulture, with a strong commitment to social responsibility and regional development. Looking forward, Gil Family Estates prepares the fifth generation to sustain its legacy. We focus on achieving sustainability and organic production while spearheading a comprehensive company revitalization as a global initiative, aiming for significant social, cultural, and economic impact across the 10 wine regions we operate in. Embracing the challenges ahead with our motto „Somos Tierra“ (We are The Land), they reaffirm their vision for the future.
