Located in the village of Erdevik in Srem on the western slopes of Fruška Gora, Erdevik Winery sits at an altitude of 140 meters, surrounded by Fruška Gora on two sides and plains on the other two, with three beautiful lakes. The village’s rich history includes Roman-era sites and evidence of settlement from the Bronze Age. First mentioned in written records in 1351 and mapped in Srem in 1730, Erdevik came under Austrian rule and into the hands of the Italian Odescalchi family, who aided Emperor Leopold I during the Turkish siege of Vienna. The name likely comes from the Hungarian word ERDŐVÉG, meaning forested area. The first vine in Erdevik was planted in 276 AD under Emperor Probus. Since then, the mild and favorable climate of Fruška Gora has fostered a long tradition of winemaking and enjoyment of wine in the area. In the early 19th century, Count Livio Odescalchi established this cellar in 1826. Today, Erdevik Winery blends modern and traditional methods to produce premium wines exclusively from its vineyard on the right bank of the Danube.
