Domaine Wardy: A Legacy of Tradition and Innovation in Lebanon’s Beqaa Valley. Domaine Wardy, a family-owned and operated winery and distillery, traces its roots back to 1881. 2017 was a turning point in the company’s history with a major restructuring and rebranding. This transformation emphasized sustainability and a circular economy, ensuring that nothing is wasted and everything is reused—a testament to the winery’s commitment to the environment. Nestled in the high-altitude plateau of the Beqaa Valley, where all its vineyards are planted, Domaine Wardy produces 18 wines, 2 araks and verjuice. In 2019, the winery took a bold step to adapt to the changing climate by planting new vineyards at higher altitudes (1,200 meters and above) on both the eastern and western slopes of the Beqaa Valley. Varieties suitable to the hotter, drier climate like the Cinsault and the indigenous Obeidi started to take center stage in the winery’s portfolio, while Grenache and Tempranillo were introduced for the first time to great success. Domaine Wardy masterfully blends ancient techniques with modern winemaking, striving to capture the essence of the terroir and the rich history of one of the world’s oldest wine regions. This harmonious fusion of tradition and innovation continues to define the winery as a leader in the Lebanese wine industry.
