OPEN BALKAN WINE TROPHY
BALKAN WINES EVALUATED BY GLOBAL EXPERTS
Giving due recognition to the ever-growing quality of Balkan wines, Open Balkan Wine Trophy is a competition, overseen by a panel of expert judges that evaluate wines from the Open Balkan countries, according to stringent international standards.
Over 800 wines from Serbia, Albania, and North Macedonia are slated to compete in the Open Balkan Wine Trophy 2024 Competition. Awards will be offered in seven categories: white, red, rose, sparkling, sweet, orange, and fortified wine. The competition will also offer special prizes to wines, created with indigenous grape varieties from the Balkans, as well as the best wines from Albania, North Macedonia and Serbia.
The Open Balkan Wine Trophy panel of judges consists of renowned professionals, including seven Masters of Wine. They will judge the wines using the top global wine competition standards. The jury’s president is Caroline Gilby MW, a prominent expert on Balkan and Southeastern European wines. With the jury’s credibility and increased interest in this event, the number of samples will continue to rise year after year.
